Gator Millworks Hosts Year Two of Summer Intern Program
At Gator Millworks, we consistently try to provide opportunities to young industry professionals through our internship program. We’ve been extremely pleased with our summer intern, Spencer Baum, from Pitt State University. Spencer is in his second year of the Architectural Manufacturing Management and Technology program and has spent the past few months working across our company’s various sectors including production, engineering, project management and estimating.
Spencer started his internship in May. and he’s worked in several departments as he learns about Gator’s business from the ground up. His initial involvement with residential and commercial cabinetry provided him with interesting insights on Gator’s production structure before he shifted to process management work in the office.
“A board comes in and I’ve seen it during its initial phase as it goes from processing to assembly and then pushed back out the door. I’ve seen it from beginning to end,” says Baum.
Spencer has been a pleasure to have on the team, and we hope this experience helped to prepare him for his career in the woodworking industry.
“We want to make sure the interns experience what they’re interested in. Of course, we cater to the intern’s strengths, but most importantly we make them feel like they are a part of Gator’s community,” says Tom Choppin, Chief Growth Officer.
